Vendor datasheets report performance in clean synthetic brine at a fixed temperature. Produced systems contain mixed brines, residual stimulation fluids, corrosion products, solids and other chemicals already in circulation. Selection has to be made against that reality.
Start from the water, not the product list
- Full ionic analysis including barium, strontium, sulphate and bicarbonate.
- Mixing ratios where injection and formation water commingle.
- pH, temperature and pressure at the point of treatment.
- Dissolved gases — CO₂ and H₂S change both scaling and corrosion behaviour.
Saturation modelling on that data defines what the chemical must do. Our scale prediction software is normally run at this stage so that the required minimum inhibitor concentration is a number rather than a vendor recommendation.
Test compatibility before you contract
Bottle tests, dynamic tube-blocking and compatibility with co-injected chemistries. Two individually effective products can precipitate when mixed at the manifold — a failure that reads on surface as a corrosion or solids problem.
Write monitoring into the supply contract
Residual analysis frequency, sampling points, method and the action level. A chemical contract without residual monitoring is a delivery contract, not a performance contract.
Qualify the supplier as rigorously as the chemistry
